On October 4, 2015, an annual general meeting of the BC Amateur Football Association (BCAFA, better known as Football BC) was held during which a vote was conducted for the Executive Officers of the association.
Despite the election process being allegedly contrary to the Bylaws of the BCAFA, the result of the vote saw Frank Naso elected as President in place of then-current President and candidate, Larry Reda, and Steve Figner elected as Vice President, Finance, in place of then-current VP, Finance and candidate, Mark Nykolaichuk.
Mr. Reda and Mr. Nykolaichuk commenced a Petition in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against the BCAFA and Mr. Naso and Mr. Figner contesting the election results.
The Board of Directors directed funds to defend Mr. Naso and Mr. Figner against the Petition. There was no unanimous concensus from the Executive Board to engage in this act and the BCAFA was never defended.
On January 6, an out-of-court settlement was agreed upon. On January 8, Mr. Naso and Mr. Figner formally resigned.
