On October 4, 2015, the BCAFA (Football BC) held an AGM which saw the election of Frank Naso and Steve Figner to the Executive Committee.
The vote commenced despite it clearly being stated to the representatives of the members of the Board (the BC Secondary Schools Football Association, the BC Football Conference, the BC Community Football Association, the BC Officials Association, Simon Fraser University, and the University of British Columbia) that the Association’s by-laws were being violated.
The result saw the election of Frank Naso as President, and Steve Figner as the VP, Finance.
A Petition was filed to the BC Supreme Court contesting the results. The petition can be seen here.
More information can be found here on the funds directed by the Board Members in the defence of Mr. Naso and Mr. Figner despite the clear evidence of a violation of the by-laws of the BCAFA.
In the weeks to follow, the following Board Members withdrew from the BCAFA:
- BC Community Football Association (BCCFA)
- BC Football Conference (BCFC)
- BC Officials Football Association (BCFOA)
- BC Secondary Schools Football Association (BCSSFA)
Mr. Naso and Mr. Figner formally resigned on January 8, 2016.
On Friday, April 8, 2016, it was revealed by Football Canada that a group naming themselves the “BC Provincial Football Association (BCPFA)” under the direction of President Frank Naso now represents the BCCFA, BCFC, and the BCFOA.
