Football BC Coaching Standards
In accordance with Coaching Canada, Football Canada and the National Coaching Certification Program, Football BC is requiring the following minimum standard for all coaches in British Columbia respectively related to the
Players 12 & Under:
Community Sport Initiation
1. Online course through Football Canada
2. In-clinic session offered by Football BC
3. Online "Making Ethical Decisions" for Community Sport through Coaching Canada
Old Level 1 plus "Making Ethical Decisions" for Community Sport through Coaching Canada
Competition Introduction - Position Coach
1. Multi-sport sessions offered through Football BC
2. Position Clinic offered through Football BC
3. "Making Ethical Decisions" for Competition Introduction through Coaching Canada
4. Post-workshop evaluation online through Football Canada
5. On-field evaluation offered through Football BC
Old Level 2, 3 or 4 plus "Making Ethical
Decisions" for Competition Introduction and Safe Contact Session.
"There is a responsibility among all of us coaches to ensure the game is safe for all

2013 Football BC Provincial Conference is fast approaching (April 20-21). Register your coaches now!
Registration is now open for the 2013 Football BC Provincial Conference to be held at Notre Dame Regional Secondary School in Vancouver.
The Conference will run on Saturday, April 20 (9 am to 5 pm) and Sunday, April 21 (9 am to 3 pm).
Confirmed speakers include Dan Dorazio and Mark Washington from the BC Lions, long-time high school and University coach Joe McCulley from FBU,
Illinois high school coach Ray Yarbrough, and Alexis Sanschagrin from the Belmont Bulldogs of BC High School Football.

The cost for an individual registrant is $90. For a staff of up to five coaches, the cost is $360.

Coaches will also be able to complete their NCCP training as well at the Conference. NCCP Community Initiation is available at no additional charge. NCCP Introduction to Competition is available for an additional $70 per coach.

List of Team BC U-16 and U-18 players invited to tryout camp released
Football BC has announced the list of players who will be invited to the Team BC tryout camp taking place over the Victoria Day Long Weekend (May 18
- 20) in Richmond, BC.

The tryout camp will serve as part of the process to select an under-16 provincial tackle team to compete at the Red River Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba from July 6
- 14, as well as select an under-18 provincial tackle team to compete at the FBU International Games in San Antonio, Texas in January 2014.
Annual Star Bowl game takes place on April 20 in Abbotsford
The annual VMFL/VCFL Star Bowl All-Star game will be taking place on April 20 at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford.

Tickets are just $5 for adults and $3 for seniors. Children 12-and-under are free. One ticket gets you into all three games.

2013 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner featuring Ronnie Lott as the keynote speaker
Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Ronnie Lott will be the keynote speaker at the 2013 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner.
Lott, a defensive back, played 15 seasons in the NFL from 1981 to 1994 for the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Raiders and New York Jets. A 10-time Pro Bowl selection and a four-time Super Bowl champion with the 49ers (1981, 1984, 1988, 1989), he was also a member of the
NFL's 75th Anniversary All-Time Team and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
His jersey #42 is also retired by the 49ers.
The 2013 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner, recognizing the 2012 Provincial Champions of amateur football in British Columbia, will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at The Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.

Free Tackling Clinic for Coaches and Players run by NFL Coach Thurmond Moore, April 13 at UBC
UBC Thunderbird Stadium will be hosting a free tackling clinic for coaches and players on Saturday, April 13.
Thurmond Moore, personal D-line coach of some of the NFL's greatest DL stars (Joey Porter / Dwight Freeney) will be instructing the course.
The cost of this event has been sponsored by FBU and UBC. The schedule for the clinic is below:

Comox Valley Raiders Camp - May 11-12
The Comox Valley Raiders Camp will be taking place at Lewis Park in Courtenay on May 11 and 12.
The cost for the camp is $100. Payment can be made either through the Lewis Centre (250-338-5371) in Courtenay or via cheque at check-in.
The camp is full-gear and players are asked to bring their own equipment.
Game Ready Fitness will serve as the coaching group for the 2013 Spring Camp.

Junior Varsity Program (8-13 years)
Starts April 2. Begins in Vancouver with Dino Geremia. (Note: This program is ongoing and will continue every month).
The program for this age group is aimed at improving physical strength while preparing muscles, joints and tendons for the demands of sports. Emphasis is placed on proper running and movement techniques, change of direction, agility and muscular endurance all aimed at injury prevention. Weightlifting is not emphasized, but rather body weight resistance. All sports welcome.

Varsity Program (14-18 years)
Starts April 2. Ongoing outdoor speed and agility.

The Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge is coming to the Richmond Oval on Friday, May 10.
The event is open to all high school-aged quarterbacks and participants have an opportunity to win a scholarship.

UBC T-Birds Football Pass & Run Fundamentals Camps 2013
The UBC Thunderbirds have released their camp schedule for 2013.
Camps will be held in a number of locations including Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Kelowna.
(Please note that the Vancouver camp previously scheduled for January 13 has now been pushed back to January
All camps are for players aged 12-17 and include lunch, jersey and individual assessment.

Lawyer Milloy & Golden Tate Football Camp
The Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate Football Camp will be taking place from July 14-17, 2013 at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.
Campers learn from outstanding veteran college and high school coaches and the staff is complimented with Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate and current and/or former members of the Seattle Seahawks.
Campers are grouped by age, position, ability and experience to allow coaches to progressively teach basic and advanced techniques to best benefit each group. Campers are taught at an approximately 10:1 ratio.
Campers receive 6 hours of instruction each day.
