Team BC announces May camp invites for U16 and U18 players; Schedule for camp released plus news and notes

Team BC has released the list of players that have been extended an invitation to the May Long Weekend camp to be held in Richmond, BC on May 17 to 19.

The May Long Weekend camp serves as part of the process to select both the U16 Team BC to compete at the Red River Cup, as well as the U18 Team BC that will compete at the FBU International Showcase.

Please note that players who attended the Combine Series as a "U15" player have been considered as part of the "U16" team

For players who have been invited, you must now register online to confirm your spot at the May camp.

The cost for the camp are as follows:

$425 - Register on or before April 25
$450 - Register after April 25
Final deadline to register is Monday, May 12.

Camp details:

- All players will receive a Russell Clothing package and practice jersey

- Camp fees include hotel accommodation and all meals at the Sheraton Hotel complex in Richmond

- Practices to take place at Minoru Park (home of Richmond Minor Football) and the Richmond Olympic Oval

- Players coached by Team BC staff, and supervised by Football BC staff

- All players will have the opportunity to interact with visiting University/College coaches

- Camp concludes with a scrimmage game on Monday, May 19

- PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT TO CAMP

Team BC notes:

- Team BC plans to field two teams at the 2014 Red River Cup meaning there will be a total of 80 players to be selected as part of the U16 program

- The U18 Team BC will eventually be cut down to 36 players

Register now for the "BC Tough" Football Camp

The "BC Tough" Football Camp takes place on May 24 at Burnaby Central Secondary School from 9 am to 6 pm.

This football camp brings players together with the top provincial coaches as well as players from the BC Lions and CFL.  The camp is for 10-18 year olds and costs $95 (t-shirt and lunch included).

This is a full-contact camp and full equipment is required. If you do not have your own equipment, you may rent them for the day at an additional cost of $30. (Must arrive one hour early if you are renting equipment).

Football BC mourns the passing of Bill Quinter


Football BC would like to express our condolences to the friends and family of Bill Quinter, who passed away last weekend at the age of 74 in West Kelowna.

Quinter was a former coach and director of player personnel for the BC Lions who was a great friend of Football BC's through his work in helping build amateur football in the province.

He will be greatly missed.

There will be a memorial for Bill to be held at the Common Room at the Bay Vista Condominiums at 2100 Boucherie Road in West Kelowna in Saturday, April 19 at 1:30 pm.

Registration is a two-step process:

1. Register with your desired position here.

 
2. Once your registration has been reviewed by a Football BC staff member, you will be contacted by email to make your $1,000 USD deposit. Your registration is only considered completed once you have made your deposit.


What the experience is:

This week-long football experience offers players with a chance to receive football instruction from top coaches in the NCAA and NFL, participate in a game against a team comprised of San Diego Division III and younger athletes, tour the San Diego Chargers facility and the San Diego State University facility, and enjoy the best that Southern California has to offer.


What the package includes:
  • Round trip air fare from Seattle to San Diego

  • All ground transportation in Southern California

  • Hotel Accommodations

  • Meals

  • Tour admissions to Disneyland (1 park), SeaWorld San Diego., San Diego Zoo and USS Midway

  • Monday through Thursday football camp and instruction at practice field

  • Game versus San Diego Division III and smaller athletes 
    on Friday

  • Fully escorted team sports tour
     

5th annual SFU Athletics Gathering of the Clan Fundraising Breakfast


This year's annual event will be held on May 30 and will be hosted by Brian Williams with Richard Sherman of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks serving as the keynote speaker. Cloverdale Football 22nd annual football clinic

Westshore Rebels Spring Camp (April 25-27)


The Westshore Rebels will be holding their open Spring Camp April 25-27 at Belmont Sr. Secondary School (3067 Jacklin Road in Langford) for returning players, 18 year old High school players and graduating midget league players. 

Along with daily workouts, various speakers will be at the camp to talk with the players and get them ready for the 2014 season.

Players interested in attending the camp are asked to register by visiting WestshoreRebels.ca and click the 'Spring Camp Registration' tab at the top.

                   

UBC Football Vancouver Island Skills Camp - Pass + Run


This skills camp takes place at John Barsby High School in Nanaimo on May 3 and will focus on developing the fundamentals at each area.

The camp will consist of 3 practices (2 on-field & 1 classroom) over a 6 hour period.

2014 Victoria All-Star Football Camp

The 2014 Victoria All-Star Camp will take place June 28-29 at Mt. Douglas Secondary School.

This Full Contact Football Camp will focus on Skill Development, Positional Play, Character and Team Building and is for all Positions.

The Staff will feature High Quality Coaching including former Professional and University players...Coach Tim Kearse, Coach Bob Molle, Coach Mark Townsend and a host of others.

This camp is for players aged 9 to 13 years old (born in 2001 to 2005) and costs $100 per player (includes practice jersey, lunch and report card). Register before April 30 and 
pay only $85.

UBC Pre-Season Football Skills Camp


This skills camp takes place on Sunday, August 10 at UBC Thunderbird Stadium from 10 am to 4 pm.
This camp will focus on developing the fundamentals at each position. The camp is divided into two separate focus areas; a) Run (OL/DL/RB/LB) & b) Pass (WR/DB/QB). During the online registration process players will have the choice to be in the Run focused camp or the Pass focused camp.

The camp will consist of 3 practices (2 on-field & 1 classroom) over a 6 hour period. On field skills will be taught and full equipment is required for these practices. The classroom session will include a breakdown of the film that is taken in the morning sessions and will be highly personalized in terms of feedback.

Lunch and Camp Jerseys will be provided for each player.

The cost is $99 per player (team rate available for 10+ players). The camp is split into two age groups: Junior (ages 12 - 14) and Senior (15 - 17).

CFC National 7-on-7 tournament – British Columbia


Canada Football Chat is running a 7-on-7 tournament series across Canada this summer.

The BC tournament will take place on Sunday, July 13 at Mercer Stadium in New Westminster. Maximum 12 teams.

The 2014 Russell Wilson Passing Academy

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is bringing the Russell Wilson Passing Academy to Ambleside Park in West Vancouver on Saturday, July 5.

All positions and skills set are welcome, and no prior football experience is required. The camp is for ages 9 to 17 and runs from 9 am to 4 pm.

Camp activities include positional training, team-based drills, film room study, and fundamental training from some of the biggest stars in the NFL.

Football BC elementary school skills program

Football BC's elementary school skills program is open to all school aged children and is conducted during regular school hours usually as part of P.E. class.

This program allows kids to learn basic football skills from Football BC coaches as well as volunteer players from local high schools.
