Team BC names cut-down rosters for U-13, U-14 and U-15 provincial teams

Team BC has announced its cut-down rosters for the U-13, U-14 and U-15 teams, respectively.

A total of 142 players will now be invited to participate in a camp on Monday, November 11. The final rosters for each respective team will be announced after that camp.

More information on the camp, including how to confirm a spot, will be sent out to invited players shortly.

Football 101 for Trainers courses

Football BC's Football 101 for Trainers courses are back. The list of upcoming courses is listed below. All courses are scheduled to run from 9 am to 3 pm.

Saturday, August 24 - 
WJ Mouat Secondary School, Abbotsford

Sunday, August 25 - 
Rutland Secondary School, Kelowna

Sunday, September 8 - 
John Barsby Secondary School, Nanaimo

Sunday, September 8 - 
Notre Dame Regional Secondary School, Vancouver

The course covers the following:

1. Preseason Administration - medical forms, registration and concussion baseline testing

2. Kit Basics - taping and emergency medical supplies

3. On-field Protocols - coordinating medical personnel, roles and responsibilities

4. Common Football Injuries

5. Concussion Protocols - diagnosis and return-to-play

6. Conclusion - discussion period

Once a coach has completed a clinic and has a NCCP #, they must take the online Making Ethical Decisions exam at If a coach has received an NCCP # from the completion of any NCCP course with football or another sport, they will be able to take Making Ethical Decisions.

BC Football Hall of Fame to announce Class of 2013 on September 14; Induction ceremony on September 15

The BC Football Hall of Fame will be announcing their Class of 2013 inductees at a joint press conference with the BC Lions on September 14. The 2013 inductees will then be formally inducted at a by-invitation pre-game ceremony prior to the Lions vs Montreal Alouettes game at BC Place on September 15.

BCFC Week 5 schedule - All games on Saturday, August 24

VI Raiders vs Kamloops Broncos - 7 pm at Hillside Stadium

The Raiders look to string together consecutive victories for the first time this season when they head to the Interior to battle the winless Broncos. The Raiders pounded the Valley Huskers 56-3 last weekend while the Broncos fell 23-8 to the Okanagan Sun.

Langley Rams vs Okanagan Sun - 7 pm at Apple Bowl

The two top teams in the league go toe-to-toe in this early potential Cullen Cup preview game. This game features two teams that have yet to actually lose a game this season, albeit the Sun had a win stripped from them for dressing an ineligible player in Week 1.


SIFC kicks off regular season this Sunday

The Southern Interior Football Conference's regular season gets underway this Sunday and it's three all-Kelowna battles out at the CNC Turf Field that are this week's featured games of the week.

The Kelowna Dragons' Atom, Pee Wee and Junior Bantam teams will take on their crow-town rivals, the Kelowna Lions on opening day. All the action gets underway at 10 am.

The Atom and Pee Wee Lions are the defending SIFC champions.

BC High School Football Exhibition season starts this weekend

At the conclusion of the 2012 BC High School Football season, the Mt. Douglas Rams stood atop the pack after being crowned the Subway Bowl champions.

The Rams will be the first team to hit the ground running in 2013 as they will kick off the start of the exhibition schedule in Hawaii this Saturday taking on Lahainaluna High School.

Football BC is proud to launch its new show, Touchdown BC!

Hosted by Jim Mullin, Touchdown BC will run from September through the end of November on Shaw TV. On-going clips will also be available on Youtube as well.

Touchdown BC is all about amateur football in British Columbia and will cover everything from University to Junior to Community to High School football.

Jay Prepchuk QB-Receiver Throwing Sessions - Wednesday nights at Renfrew Park starting June 26

Jay Prepchuk will be holding weekly QB-Receiver throwing sessions every Wednesday night at Renfrew Park from 7 pm to 8:30 pm starting June 26.

The camps will featured a qualified receiver coach working with the receivers doing skill work and running routes with the quarterbacks throwing to them.

BC Football Hall of Fame seeking nominations for the Class of 2014

Nominations are welcomed for the 2014 Inductions to the BC Football Hall of Fame.

Categories include: Athlete (both amateur and professional), Builder, Pioneer, Media and Teams (both amateur and professional).

The Hall is looking for worthy candidates from across the province of British Columbia, especially in the amateur categories.

Junior Varsity Program (8-13 years)

Starts April 2. Begins in Vancouver with Dino Geremia. (Note: This program is ongoing and will continue every month).

The program for this age group is aimed at improving physical strength while preparing muscles, joints and tendons for the demands of sports. Emphasis is placed on proper running and movement techniques, change of direction, agility and muscular endurance all aimed at injury prevention. Weightlifting is not emphasized, but rather body weight resistance. All sports welcome.

Tuesday & Thursdays. 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. $99. Core Cardio Studio (3433 East Hastings St., Vancouver)

Varsity Program (14-18 years)

Starts April 2. Ongoing outdoor speed and agility.

Tuesday & Thursdays. 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm.

Plus Strength Training. Tuesday/Thursdays (7:30 pm to 8:30 pm) and Saturdays (11:15 am to 12:15 pm).

Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge 2013

The Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge has been postponed to Friday, December 13.

The event will be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The event is open to all high school-aged quarterbacks and participants have an opportunity to win a scholarship.
