Happy New Year to our entire football family from Football BC!

Please be reminded that our offices are currently closed and will reopen officially on Monday, January 9. If you need to reach us during the closure, please email communications@playfootball.bc.ca. Phone messages left during this time may not be returned until following the closure.

      

2012 Football BC Provincial Identification Camps dates announced

Football BC has announced a list of dates for the upcoming Provincial ID camps taking place in early 2012. The schedule, along with information for all interested participants, can be downloaded here.

All locations will be holding a Team BC tryout and a Senior Bowl tryout. Please note that the "Prep to be the Best" camps for players in Grades 8 and 9 has been postponed until the spring due to time constraints and field availability.

The camps for the following locations have been confirmed:

  • Vancouver Island (Nanaimo) - Sunday, January 29
  • Lower Mainland (Richmond) - Saturday, February 4 
    & Saturday, February 11
  • Vancouver Island (Victoria) - Saturday, February 19

The details for the camps at the following locations will be announced at a later date:

  • Interior (Kelowna)
  • Prince George (part of the Northern Combine)
  • Fraser Valley

Football BC seeking interested coaches to be part of provincial identification/representation programs; Deadline to apply is December 31

Football BC would like to put out a call to coaches interested in being a part of our provincial identification programs as well as our provincial representation programs. 

These programs include:

- Play Football BC
- Prep to be the Best
- Team BC
- Senior Bowl 

Coaches will be utilized to help administer the identification camps through the province, have opportunities to coach at the Team BC mini-camp, coach at the Senior Bowl camp and coach Team BC in the Football Canada Cup. Please click here for more details on the Football BC Development Program. 

Coaches will be selected based on their National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) qualifications, experience coaching related to the specific age groups, and past experiences with provincial and national programs. Every coach will have a proven track record working with fellow coaches and positively impacting the players they have coached. 

The deadline to apply is Saturday, December 31.

Date and location set for 2012 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner

Football BC and the BC Lions have confirmed the date and location for the 2012 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner. The dinner, which will honour the 2011 provincial champions in amateur football, will be held on March 30, 2012 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.

Details on ticket pricing and speaker information will be announced shortly.

*Thank you to those who submitted a nomination for the Community and Scholastic Coach of the Year, respectively. All nominations are currently being reviewed and the winning coaches in the two respective categories will be contacted shortly once a decision has been made.*


                    

UBC 2012 Football Camps schedule

The UBC Thunderbirds have released their schedule of upcoming camps in the 2012 calendar year. A full description of each camp along with costs and registration information can be found here.

The schedule is as follows:

January 28 (UBC): WR/DB/QB Camp (UBC Sports Camp) - www.camps.ubc.ca 

January 29 (UBC): RB /LB/DL/OL - Run Camp (UBC Sports Camp) - www.camps.ubc.ca 

February 11 (Victoria, Bear Mountain Stadium): TFA - "Best in the West" Passing Camp - www.ubcfootball.com 

May 4-6 (UBC): Football University Camp hosted by UBC - www.footballuniversity.org 

May 26-27 (Nanaimo/Courtney): TFA - "Best in the West" Camp - www.ubcfootball.com 

June 26 (Kamloops, Hillside Stadium): TFA - "Best in the West" Passing Camp - www.ubcfootball.com
                 

Jay Prepchuk Quarterbacks/Receivers Camps (with Geroy Simon); Offensive Line Camps (with Angus Reid); Defensive Line Camps (with Brent Johnson)

The schedule for Jay Prepchuk's Quarterbacks and Receivers Camps with BC Lions superstar Geroy Simon is now available. Please visit their website at http://jayprepchukquarterbackreceivercamps.com for all the info. Session 1 for the QBs and Receivers camps starts on January 11 and spots are limited.

Jay Prepchuk is also pleased to announce Offensive Line and Defensive Line camps with BC Lions stars Angus Reid and Brent Johnson, respectively, on April 23/25 and May 1/3 at Renfrew Park in Vancouver.

2012 Football Canada Coaches Association (FCCA) Convention - March 24-25, 2012

Football Canada, in partnership with CanadaFootballChat.com and the Ontario Football Alliance, will be hosting the 2012 Football Canada Coaches Association (FCCA) Convention on Saturday, March 24 through Sunday, March 25 at Corpus Christi Secondary School in Burlington Ontario.

The FCCA Convention is a coaching development opportunity which features presentations from minor, junior, Canadian and American university, as well as CFL and NFL coaches. NCCP workshops will also be conducted as part of the event.

The Football Academy continues - sign up for the next session today!


Aspiring players aged 14 to 17 who want to receive high level football training are encouraged to take part in The Football Academy. Registration is on-going.

Football BC is supporting this program to enhance each players' skill set and performance on the field through proven techniques designed to improve each participants' 40-yard dash, pro agility, vertical, speed, acceleration, injury prevention as well as overall strength and fitness.
