Football BC holiday office closures

Football BC's offices will close for the holidays starting on Monday, December 24 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 8. Phone messages left will be returned following our closure.

Mark your calendar: Provincial Evaluation schedule for 2013

Football BC has released its tentative provincial evaluation schedule for 2013.

All evaluations will include testing (40-yard dash, 10-yard dash, standing broad jump, T-test) as well as a skills portion (individual, 1-on-1's, skelly).

Information on costs and registration will be available shortly.

There are three age categories for evaluations: Prep to be the Best (ages 14-15), Team BC (ages 16-17) and Senior Bowl (for players currently in grade 12 who will be graduating in June 2013).

For Team BC and Senior Bowl, the evaluations also serve as part of the tryout process to attend the Team BC identification camp and the Senior Bowl camp, respectively.

The tentative schedule is as follows: (schedule subject to change)

Monday, February 11 (Family Day)
Richmond Olympic Oval, Richmond (Time TBD)

(this evaluation is for all players across the province and it will be a full day of evaluations)

Saturday, February 16
Merle Logan Field, Nanaimo (11:30 am to 4 pm)

Sunday, February 17
Capital News Centre, Kelowna (2 pm to 4:45 pm)

*March 1-3
The Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre (UNBC), Prince George (in conjunction with the Northern Combine)


*An NCCP course will also be offered this weekend

Save the date: 2013 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner

The 2013 Orange Helmet Awards Dinner, recognizing the 2012 Provincial Champions of amateur football in British Columbia, will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at The Westin Bayshore in Vancouver.

Ticket information as well as details on the keynote speaker will be announced at a later time.

Please save the date and come help us celebrate the 2012 provincial champions and support amateur football in British Columbia by attending this first-class event that is hosted annual by the BC Lions.


                      

Important tasks for Team BC players to complete

Team BC players are reminded to please have the following tasks completed as soon as possible.

1. Complete the FBU Waiver Form and email a scanned copy in PDF format to communications@playfootball.bc.ca by Thursday, December 20.

2. Complete the parental travel consent form and bring it with you when you depart with the team on December 30.

(Specific details required for certain sections of both forms have been emailed to each player. If you do not have these emails, please contact us at communications@playfootball.bc.ca  immediately).

Reminder that all Starbowl players and BC High School All-Stars receive automatic invitations to annual Football BC Senior Bowl camp

The VMFL has named their Starbowl rosters for the Bantam and Midget divisions, respectively.

See the full rosters on their website at www.vmfl.ca.

The BC High School MVPs and All-Stars have also been announced. The full list can be found here.

As a reminder, all players currently in their grade 12 year who will be graduating in June that have been named to either the Starbowl or were a BC High School Football MVP/All-Star in 2012 will receive an automatic invitation to the 2013 Football BC Senior Bowl camp.

The 2013 Senior Bowl camp information will be announced shortly. Tryout dates for the 2013 Senior Bowl camp for players will also be announced shortly.

UBC T-Birds Football Pass & Run Fundamentals Camps 2013

The UBC Thunderbirds have released their camp schedule for 2013.

Camps will be held in a number of locations including Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Kelowna.

All camps are for players aged 12-17 and include lunch, jersey and individual assessment.

Lawyer Milloy & Golden Tate Football Camp

The Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate Football Camp will be taking place from July 14-17, 2013 at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. 

Campers learn from outstanding veteran college and high school coaches and the staff is complimented with Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate and current and/or former members of the Seattle Seahawks. 

Campers are grouped by age, position, ability and experience to allow coaches to progressively teach basic and advanced techniques to best benefit each group. Campers are taught at an approximately 10:1 ratio. 

Campers receive 6 hours of instruction each day.

Jay Prepchuk's position camps are back for 2013

The dates for the QB/Receiver Camp (with Jay Prepchuk and Geroy Simon) are as follows:

Session 1: JAN 16, 23, 30 & Feb 6 at Burnaby 8-Rinks
Session 2: FEB 13, 20, 27 & MAR 6 at Burnaby 8-Rinks
Session 3: April 30 & May 2 at Renfrew Park, Vancouver
Session 4: May 6 & 8 at Renfrew Park, Vancouver

The dates for the O-Line/D-Line Camp (with Angus Reid and Brent Johnson) are as follows:

Session 1: APR 30 & MAY 2 at Renfrew Park, Vancouver

Game Ready Fitness

Junior Varsity Program ($99 + tax per month) - for ages 10-14

This is an introductory level to fitness and explosive athletic movement. Program is geared to build speed, conditioning, muscle endurance, strength and to help develop position skills. Total of 2 hours per week.

Varsity Program ($249 + tax per month) - for ages 15 and up

This is an advanced level of explosive movement, strength and power. The program is geared to make our athletes pound-for-pound the strongest, most explosive and fastest possible. The training program also includes one day of plyometrics. Starting in March, the training program will include speed training on field: conditioning, agility, footwork, position work, 1 on 1's, and skelly. Total of 6 hours per week.
