Football BC's Family Day Combine goes this Monday! Still time to register online and save

Football BC's Family Day Combine - part of the 2014 Provincial Combine Series - goes this Monday at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

Due to the popularity of this session, we have extended registration online until 5 pm on Friday. You will be able to save on the walk-up price by registering and paying online.

* Please note that online registration for all other sessions will still close one week prior *

The Combine Series provides players with an opportunity to be evaluated by Football BC's provincial coaches and is the first step for getting on the radar to be part of one of Football BC's provincial programs (i.e. Team BC and Senior Bowl).

For the 2014 season, all players who wish to be eligible to be a part of one of Football BC's provincial programs must evaluated by a Football BC provincial coach. The Combine Series provides an opportunity for all players across the province to have access to an evaluation session in an area close by to them.

The 2014 sessions are as follows:

Monday, February 10 -
Richmond Olympic Oval, Richmond

Sunday, February 16 -
Merle Logan Field, Nanaimo

Sunday, February 23 -
Kelowna United Dome, Kelowna

Tuesday, February 25 -
W.J. Mouat Secondary School, Abbotsford

Detailed times for each session have been confirmed. Click here for more information.

Online registration is now available here.

Register online and save on the walk-up price. Online registration is $60. Walk-up registration price is $70.

For players in Grade 12: The 2014 Senior Bowl camp is just around the corner!

As per usual, the camp will take place over the March Spring Break Week (March 18-21) culminating with a game on the Saturday (March 22).

The cost to attend this year's camp for the week is only $230 (does not include hotel accommodations for out-of-town players). The camp takes place at the BC Lions Training Facility in Surrey with the exhibition game to close out the camp taking place at McLeod Athletic Park in Surrey.

There are two ways to earn a spot at Senior Bowl camp.

2. Players named a BC High School Football All-Star in 2013, or named to the 2014 Star Bowl team receive an automatic invitation to the camp

*Football BC encourages all players to attend a Provincial Combine session. If you receive an automatic invitation to Senior Bowl camp AND also attend a provincial combine session, you will receive a $40 discount on your Senior Bowl fee. Contact for more information.

**Testing and evaluation is not done at Senior Bowl so the only way to be tested and evaluated and have your results posted and used by potential recruiters is to attend a Football BC Combine.

SFU names Chapdelaine new head coach

The SFU Clan officially introduced former BC Lions offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine as their new head coach on Tuesday.

Chapdelaine, a Clan alumnus who played for SFU during the 1980's, brings an extensive resume to the team. His CFL coaching career has seen stops in Calgary and Edmonton, in addition to BC, and he has been on the staff of three Grey Cup championship teams.

Before making the jump to the CFL as a coach, Chapdelaine was head coach at Laval University from 1997-00 and guided them to their first-ever Vanier Cup championship in 1999. He also spent time at Bishop's University as an offensive coordinator.

The Clan finished with a 3-7 record in GNAC play last season in what was Dave Johnson's final year on the mountain.
