Denny Veitch Celebration of Life set for January 14 at Brockton Oval

Football BC would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of Denny Veitch following his passing on December 22.

Denny's introduction to football came in the 1950's at Kitsilano High School. A hard-nosed player who had lost his arm at age 6, he later went on to play junior football with the Meralomas before taking over as head coach leading them to a BC Championship. Denny also competed in rugby for the Meralomas representing them at a national and international level.

Denny later ventured into the world of professional sports and first as the minor football coordinator for the BC Lions before taking on the role as general manager from 1967 to 1970. Veitch was honoured with a Pioneer Award at the 2010 Orange Helmet Awards.

Denny was also a big name for Vancouver's other "football" club - the Vancouver Whitecaps - serving as their general manager from 1973 to 1977.

There will be a celebration of Denny's life on Saturday, January 14 at Brockton Oval in Stanley Park at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations made in memory to the Alzheimer Society.
