Red River Cup wrap up
Team BC was unable to find the same magic in 2014 as they had in 2013 when they captured the Red River Cup championship.
Team BC Blue and Team BC Orange both fell short of earning a medal at the 2014 tournament. Football BC would like to congratulate to North Saskatchewan for winning the gold medal.
On the final day of competition, Team BC Orange started off with a tough 12-0 loss to Nova Scotia but Team BC Blue managed to score a slim 17-15 victory also over Nova Scotia.
The two teams - Orange and Blue - then clashed head-to-head in one of the more entertaining contests of the entire tournament.
Team Orange's RB Zander Bailey (Terry Fox Ravens), ran for two touchdowns including a 65-yard dash on first down with just 50 seconds left in the game to break a 14-14 deadlock and give Team BC Orange a 21-14 victory.
Orange opened the scoring with QB Taylor Knoll (Mt. Boucherie Bears) connecting with REC Denver Lebedow (Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Blue answered before the end of the first half with a 40-yard touchdown run by RB Ty Truong (Mt. Boucherie Bears).
Bailey's first touchdown of the game - a five-yard run early in the second half
- would give Orange the lead back but Blue would pull even with just 1:12 remaining in the contest courtesy of a touchdown by REC Christopher Smith (Mt. Boucherie Bears) setting the stage for
Bailey's ultimate heroics.

Team BC releases U18
Team BC has released its initial cut-down roster for their U18 provincial tackle team to compete at the FBU International Showcase in late December/early January in San Antonio, Texas.
The players were selected from over 120 athletes that attended the Team BC May Long Weekend camp in the U18 category.
The cut-down roster is comprised of 61 players. The final roster, which is expected to be named in mid-December following one final evaluation camp, will consist of just 36 players.
Click here to see the U18 Team BC cut-down
For the players who have been named to the cut-down roster, Football BC will be collecting a deposit shortly (amount TBD). The deposit amount will be applied to your final costs for participating in the tournament and will be fully refundable for those players who are not selected to the final roster.
For players who wish to solicit sponsorship funds from local businesses to help subsidize the cost of being involved with Team BC, they can email
to request a sponsorship letter.
Note from U18 Team BC Head Coach Jay Prepchuk:
Congratulations to all the players who have made it to the next level of U18 Team BC. There will be a few more cuts after our practice in early-to-mid December.
Please note that we may add more players from our Combine/Camp lists to this final cut-down day in mid-December based on injuries and team needs.
The plan for U18 Team BC is to travel to San Antonio between December 28 and January 4.
Keep training hard and be prepared for this Team BC experience and representing a proud tradition of football in British Columbia.
Good luck with your season!
