Key Information Package for U-16 Team BC players

U-16 Team BC players are advised to check their emails for a key information package that was emailed to them on Monday, June 17.

If you have not received this email, please contact immediately.

Also, players are reminded to email their football pants size to as well.


Red River Cup schedule released

Football Manitoba has released the schedule for the upcoming Red River Cup tournament.

Team BC will be playing four round robin games, with the potential of playing up to an additional two more games on the final day of the tournament depending on their standings.

Team BC will begin the tournament on Sunday, July 7 facing North Saskatchewan at 8:30 am PT and then will take on Winnipeg West at 12 pm PT.

On Wednesday, July 10, Team BC will conclude the round robin portion of the tournament facing South Saskatchewan at 11:45 am PT and then taking on Winnipeg East at 3:15 pm PT.

The top two teams in the round robin will play each other in the Gold Medal Game on Saturday, July 13. The bottom four teams in the round robin will face play a two-game round robin on the final day of the tournament to determine the bronze medal winner.

Touchdown BC!

Football BC is proud to launch its new show, Touchdown BC!

Hosted by Jim Mullin, Touchdown BC will run from September through the end of November on Shaw TV. On-going clips will also be available on Youtube as well.

Touchdown BC is all about amateur football in British Columbia and will cover everything from University to Junior to Community to High School football.

Once a coach has completed a clinic and has a NCCP #, they must take the online Making Ethical Decisions exam at If a coach has received an NCCP # from the completion of any NCCP course with football or another sport, they will be able to take Making Ethical Decisions.

North Delta Longhorns capture BCFC Tier 2 championship

For the second year in a row, the North Delta Longhorns are the champions of the BCFC Tier 2 league.

The Longhorns defeated the Richmond Raiders by a 13-12 score at Minoru Park this past Sunday in the championship game.

Football BC mourns loss of Coach Bill Plant

Football BC would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Coach Bill Plant, who passed away last month back on May 16.

A celebration of life will be held for Bill on Saturday, August 24 from 2 pm to 6 pm at the Capilano Rugby Club in North Vancouver.

Coach Plant was involved with the BC football family in many ways on the North Shore as a player, coach and administrator. His playing career began in the GSL before moving on to West Vancouver Secondary. He then moved on to the North Shore Cougars of the Big 4 before joining the UBC Thunderbirds (1965-67) under the tutelage of the legendary Frank Gnup.

After his playing career, he'd go on to coaching with stops at Windsor Secondary, West Vancouver Secondary, and Sentinel Secondary – the latter he guided to a AA championship in 2003. He was also part of the coaching staff of the North Shore Cougars in the late 70's and early 80's and also coached at various summer camps including Larry Reda's Western Canadian All-Star Camp. He was also a director of Football BC.


Football Canada recommends all U-13 take Community Coach Certification Program

Football Canada has adopted the recommendation put forth by its members that under-13 coaches take the National Certification Program (NCCP) Community Coach context.

The training includes an online portion as well as the new Safe Contact module.

Ottawa to pilot first Safe Contact Symposium

Football Canada in partnership with the Ontario Football Alliance and the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) are piloting the first Safe Contact symposium stop to be held Friday, June 21 through Saturday, June 22 at the RA Centre (2451 Riverside Drive) in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Safe Contact symposium aims to educate players, coaches and parents alike on the latest National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Safe Contact tackling and blocking techniques.

The cost for coaches to attend the two-day symposium is $50. The cost for players (Saturday only) is $20. The cost for parents/guardians (Saturday only) is free.

Football BC to field three teams in FBU National Championship tournament; Register for tryouts now!

Football BC is excited to announce that, in addition to the expansion of our Team BC program with the addition of a U-16 team, we will be fielding three teams in the FBU National Championship.

The FBU National Championship is a 64-team tournament that plays off in regional brackets and ends up with the final four competing in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas during the week of the US Army All American Bowl game.

Football BC will be fielding teams at the U-13 (6th grade), U-14 (7th grade) and U-15 (8th grade) divisions, respectively. All three teams will be selected from players who attend one of the two tryout sessions that are coming up in late July.

BC Lions' Play with the Pros - Sunday, July 7

One of the BC Lions' most popular and recognizable community programs, Play with the Pros is an annual free initiative that involves Lions players teaching boys and girls the basics of football by having them participate in a non-contact skills clinic.

New in 2013, The BC Lions' Huddle Up Against Bullying Program will focus on delivering anti-bullying messaging to kids ages 6 to 12 through the Lions' very popular amateur football programs, such as Play with the Pros. The program's founding partners are Seaspan, Intact Insurance and Uniglobe.

The next Play with the Pros session will take place on Sunday, July 7 at the BC Lions' practice facility located in Surrey. The session goes from 1 to 3 pm. To register, visit

Football BC announces 56-player cut-down roster for U-18 Team BC

Football BC has announced the list of 56 players who have advanced to the final cut-down stage of tryouts for the U-18 Team BC.

The players who have been named to the U-18 Team BC cut-down roster will be invited to take part in a final mini-camp during December. At the end of the December camp, the final roster of 36 players will be selected to compete at the 2014 FBU International Games in San Antonio, Texas.

Jay Prepchuk Summer QB camp

Jay Prepchuk will be holding his Summer QB camp on June 22-23 at Renfrew Park in Vancouver. The camp, coached by Prepchuk and Jon Roney (University of Waterloo QB), is limited to 20 participants.

BC Football Hall of Fame seeking nominations for the Class of 2013

Nominations are welcomed for the 2013 Inductions to the BC Football Hall of Fame.

Categories include: Athlete (both amateur and professional), Builder, Pioneer, Media and Teams (both amateur and professional).

The Hall is looking for worthy candidates from across the province of British Columbia, especially in the amateur categories.

Junior Varsity Program (8-13 years)

Starts April 2. Begins in Vancouver with Dino Geremia. (Note: This program is ongoing and will continue every month).

The program for this age group is aimed at improving physical strength while preparing muscles, joints and tendons for the demands of sports. Emphasis is placed on proper running and movement techniques, change of direction, agility and muscular endurance all aimed at injury prevention. Weightlifting is not emphasized, but rather body weight resistance. All sports welcome.

Tuesday & Thursdays. 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm. $99. Core Cardio Studio (3433 East Hastings St., Vancouver)

Varsity Program (14-18 years)

Starts April 2. Ongoing outdoor speed and agility.

Simon Fraser Western Canadian All Star Camp

The annual Simon Fraser Western Canadian All Star Camp will take place from July 3-6 at Simon Fraser University.

This full-contact camp prepares athletes to be the best they can be through the highest quality instruction in a fun and positive environment. The staff consists of SFU coaches as well as guest coaches and there will be six practices over the course of camp culminating in a controlled game on the last day.

The camp is open to players from age 9 - 17. The cost of the camp is $375 for commuters and $560 for live-in. Single day attendance is $90.

UBC 1st Annual 7 on 7 Team Passing Camp

This camp is open to both JV & Senior High School aged players and focuses on fundamental skill development in the passing game. 

It is a team camp but is opened to individual players as well who will be placed on UBC teams for the purposes of our round robin scrimmages. This camp will give players a solid foundation for passing game while allowing high school and community team coaches to work in their own systems with their players in preparation for scrimmages.

The cost is $150 per individual, or $1200 for a team of 10 players.

Lawyer Milloy & Golden Tate Football Camp

The Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate Football Camp will be taking place from July 14-17, 2013 at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. 

Campers learn from outstanding veteran college and high school coaches and the staff is complimented with Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate and current and/or former members of the Seattle Seahawks. 

Campers are grouped by age, position, ability and experience to allow coaches to progressively teach basic and advanced techniques to best benefit each group. Campers are taught at an approximately 10:1 ratio. 

Campers receive 6 hours of instruction each day.

Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge 2013

The Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge has been postponed to Friday, December 13.

The event will be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The event is open to all high school-aged quarterbacks and participants have an opportunity to win a scholarship.
