Football BC Provincial Conference wrap-up

Football BC would like to thank all the coaches who attended this past weekend's Provincial Conference as well as all the volunteer helpers who helped make the event a success.

Next NCCP course offerings takes place at the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna

The next NCCP Community Initiation and NCCP Intro to Competition courses, respectively, will be held over June 8-9 at the Coast Capri Hotel in Kelowna.

Please also note that the Community Initiation and Intro to Competition previously scheduled over June 15-16 in Kamloops has now been cancelled. Please continue to visit Football BC's website for more courses to be added to the schedule.

North Delta Longhorns crowned first-ever Tier II champions

The North Delta Longhorns have the distinction of becoming the first-ever Juvenile Champions in the newly-created BCFC Tier II league.

The Longhorns capped their perfect season with a 23-3 victory over the Richmond Raiders in the championship game this past Monday at Minoru Park.

Congratulations to the Longhorns and to all the players who participated in the first year of BCFC Tier II.

U-18 Spring Flag championship goes this Sunday at Carnarvon Park

The under-18 Spring Flag championship goes this Sunday, June 3 at Carnarvon Park in Vancouver (MacDonald St. & West 16th Ave.). All the action gets underway at 9 am.

Last year the Vancouver Westside Packers, led by coaches Mike and Doug Pauls, were crowned champions at this event.

Next weekend, the Capital News Centre in Kelowna will host the provincial flag championships for the U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 divisions.

In total, counting all five age divisions, there are over 90 teams and 800 players competing in the respective flag football championships.

Game Ready Fitness

Game Ready offers year-round support for football training and skill development. They are local football stars from the NFL and CFL using their training expertise to give back to our football community.

Game Ready will also provide assistance to Football BC with combines, Senior Bowl, Team BC, the annual Football BC Provincial Conference and the Play Football BC campaign which introduces the game to young, school-aged children for the first time in many cases.

Junior Varsity Program ($99 + tax per month) - for ages 10-14

This is an introductory level to fitness and explosive athletic movement. Program is geared to build speed, conditioning, muscle endurance, strength and to help develop position skills. Total of 2 hours per week.

Varsity Program ($249 + tax per month) - for ages 15 and up

This is an advanced level of explosive movement, strength and power. The program is geared to make our athletes pound-for-pound the strongest, most explosive and fastest possible. The training program also includes one day of plyometrics. Starting in March, the training program will include speed training on field: conditioning, agility, footwork, position work, 1 on 1's, and skelly. Total of 6 hours per week.

Kamloops Community Big Kahuna Football Camp 2012

The Kamloops Community Big Kahuna Football Camp takes place at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops from July 9 to 13.

The camp, for ages 10-13, features full contact drills and scrimmage situations and will be led by current Kalamalka Secondary School head coach Brad Yamaoka who will be working alongside Darryl Chow and Duncan Olthuis.

The cost of the camp is only $200 per player and equipment rental is available.

North Shore "Wildcats" holding 50th year championship reunion

The North Shore "Wildcats" Juvenile Teams of 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965 will be holding a 50th year championship reunion on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Capilano Rugby Club in West Vancouver from 11 am to 4 pm.

UBC 2012 Football Camps schedule

The UBC Thunderbirds have released their schedule of upcoming camps in the 2012 calendar year. Please visit www.ubcfootball.com for costs and information on all their camps.

The schedule is as follows:

June 23 (Kamloops, Valleyview High School): Best in the West Football Camp 

June 24 (Kelowna, Kelowna Secondary School): Best in the West Football Camp

28th Annual Western Canadian All Star CLAN Football Camp

The 28th annual Western Canadian All Star CLAN Football Camp - the longest running full contact camp in Canada - gets underway on Friday, June 29 and runs through to Monday, July 2. The camp features:
  • Over 3 hours of on-field instruction, including position-focused drills and group instruction
  • Live scrimmage on the last day of camp
  • Complete the experience by choosing the Live In option - players stay in SFU Residents with chaperone supervision and all meals are included.

Registration opens Monday, March 5. Register before March 19 and save 10%.

  • Note that registration for camp and accommodations are separate
  • Early Bird Pricing: Camp $337.50, Accommodations $166.50
  • Regular Pricing: Camp $375, Accommodations $185

This live in camp offers players a unique opportunity to experience life as a student athlete, while progressing towards their football goals and becoming stronger, faster and overall better athletes. Jay Prepchuk is currently the head coach of the Handsworth Royals and will be serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the provincial under-18 team (Team BC) for a second consecutive year in 2012..
