Team BC tryout camp goes this weekend! Parents and fans are welcome to watch all practice sessions
The Team BC Victoria Day Long Weekend Camp (May 18-20) for all players trying out for the U-16 Team BC and U-18 Team BC will kick off this Saturday, May 18 and run through to Monday, May 20.
There are over 200 players who will be taking part in this camp, including close to 120 trying out for the under-18 team and over 80 trying out for the under-16 team.

For all players who are registered for the camp, we would like to remind them of the following:
- Check-in begins at 11 am at the lobby of the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel on Saturday. The hotel is located at 7551 Westminster Highway in Richmond. Players are encouraged to arrive early to help ease the registration process as there are over 200 players that will need to be checked
- Players should bring full gear to the camp. Jerseys will be provided.
- Players must get their parents/guardians to sign the Oval Waiver form
and hand it in at check-in.
- The tryout camp will serve as part of the process to select an under-16 provincial tackle team to compete at the Red River Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba from July 6
- 14, as well as select an under-18 provincial tackle team to compete at the FBU International Games in San Antonio, Texas in January 2014.

Football BC would also like to welcome members of the CIS Guelph Gryphons, Carleton Ravens and Manitoba Bisons to this
weekend's Team BC Victoria Day Long Weekend camp.
The Gryphons, Ravens and Bisons are taking advantage of Football
BC's University Sponsor Package and will have an opportunity to address players and making a presentation during the weekend, as well as join all the camp players and Team BC coaching staff for meals.
Also represented at the camp are UBC Thunderbirds, SFU Clan and McGill Redmen who are serving as part of Team
BC's coaching staff.

Football BC will be offering the following NCCP clinics at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops on June 7-8.
NCCP Introduction to Competition - Football
(required for coaching athletes 13-18 years old)

NCCP Community Initiation - Football
(required for coaching athletes 6-12)
June 7 (3 pm to 9 pm)
*Coaches taking this course must also complete the online portion at a cost of $39 at:

The clinic will take place during the BC Lions Training Camp so coaches will have the opportunity to visit practice and review as part of the clinic.

Once a coach has completed a clinic and has a NCCP #, they must take the online Making Ethical Decisions exam at
http://www.coach.ca/elearning-s13846. If a coach has received an NCCP # from the completion of any NCCP course with football or another sport, they will be able to take Making Ethical Decisions.

Starts April 2. Begins in Vancouver with Dino Geremia. (Note: This program is ongoing and will continue every month).
The program for this age group is aimed at improving physical strength while preparing
muscles, joints and tendons for the demands of sports. Emphasis is placed on proper running and movement
techniques, change of direction, agility and muscular endurance all aimed at injury prevention. Weightlifting is not
emphasized, but rather body weight resistance. All sports welcome.

Simon Fraser Western Canadian All Star Camp
The annual Simon Fraser Western Canadian All Star Camp will take place from July 3-6 at Simon Fraser University.
This full-contact camp prepares athletes to be the best they can be through the highest quality instruction in a fun and positive environment. The staff consists of SFU coaches as well as guest coaches and there will be six practices over the course of camp culminating in a controlled game on the last day.
The camp is open to players from age 9 - 17. The cost of the camp is $375 for commuters and $560 for live-in. Single day attendance is $90.

UBC T-Birds Football Pass & Run Fundamentals Camps 2013
The UBC Thunderbirds have released their camp schedule for 2013.
Camps will be held in a number of locations including
Vancouver, Vancouver Island and Kelowna.
All camps are for players aged 12-17 and include lunch, jersey and individual assessment.

Lawyer Milloy & Golden Tate Football Camp
The Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate Football Camp will be taking place from July
14-17, 2013 at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.
Campers learn from outstanding veteran college and high school coaches and the staff is complimented with Lawyer Milloy and Golden Tate and current and/or former members of the Seattle Seahawks.
Campers are grouped by age, position, ability and experience to allow coaches to progressively teach basic and advanced techniques to best benefit each group. Campers are taught at an approximately 10:1 ratio.

Jay Prepchuk Pee Wee Quarterback Camp
Jay Prepchuk will be holding a quarterback camp for Pee Wee players (ages 7
- 12) on Saturday, May 26 at Renfrew Park in Vancouver.
The camp runs from 11 am to 1 pm. No experience is needed to participate in this camp
- beginners are welcome.
Participants are asked to bring their own football, football cleats, and water bottle. No football gear is necessary.

- Brain Injury Film Festival presents "Head Games"
The Brain Injury Program in Fraser Health is running a film festival in June as part of Brain Injury Awareness Month.
On Tuesday, June 18 at 7 pm they will be presenting Head Games
- a documentary dealing with concussions and based on the book written by former Ivy League football player and wrestler Christopher Nowinski.
The festival takes place over four Tuesdays at Douglas College in New Westminster.

Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge 2013
The Damon Allen High School Quarterback Challenge has been postponed to Friday, December 13.
The event will be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval.
The event is open to all high school-aged quarterbacks and participants have an opportunity to win a scholarship.
