UBC T-Birds season comes to a tough end in Calgary

There were very few people who gave the UBC Thunderbirds much of an opportunity to get past the undefeated Calgary Dinos in their Hardy Cup semi-final game but, for a while last Saturday, the T-Birds made a few believers albeit for a short time.

The T-Birds jumped out to an early 17-0 in the first quarter and even held a lead at one point in the fourth quarter but eventually fell 42-28 to the Dinos who will now have an opportunity to extend their Hardy Cup championship streak to six straight years.

With the loss, the T-Birds season comes to a close. They finished the regular season with a 4-4 record.

While the T-Birds football team may be off the field until next fall, there are several ways you can continue to support the T-Birds.

1. Attend the upcoming Thunderbirds Football Gala on Wednesday, November 27 (details in the entry above).

2. Let the decision-makers at UBC know you're in support of UBC Varsity athletics including Thunderbirds Football. Email UBC Vice President, Students Louise Cowin at and/or UBC Athletics Managing Director Ashley Howard at and make your voices heard!
